In fact, you can give some serious thought to your next move since it gives you access to a number of music careers that are on offer. Some of them include technology, the business itself or performance.
If you’re interested in performance, getting a music degree will give you credentials that come in handy and more than you might realize. However, you will still have to put in the hard work if you want to perform solo or with a band.
If you intend to join orchestras or major companies, there’s no doubt that you’ll have to audition for the role too. In other words, you will have to audition in order to prove yourself which will also get yourself heard by a number of people.
So, you should be on the lookout for chances to perform, and which is something that a University degree will also give you too.
As for the music business, careers usually are divided into two categories – producing and selling. The former involves working with musicians in the studio but avoids live performance as such. The latter involves the marketing of clients and one must have a good knowledge of music before pursuing a career such as this one.
Finally, teaching at schools, universities or even privately is another option that can be explored too. While a Masters or Ph.D is required at the college level, a PGCE is all you need to teach at schools.
